このスポットについて
A shrine dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, standing on high ground a short walk from Yushima Station. Shrine tradition places its founding in the 5th century, with the spirit of Michizane enshrined here during the Nanboku-cho period. Worshipped as the deity of learning, its precincts are hung with countless ema plaques praying for success in entrance exams. Many plum trees are planted on the grounds, and their blossoms can be enjoyed from winter into early spring. It also makes a good starting point for setting off on foot toward Ueno or Hongo.
