このスポットについて
Sitting at the top of a slope up from Yushima Station, this is the head temple of the Reiunji branch of Shingon Buddhism. It was founded in the early Edo period by the monk Jogon, who received the patronage of Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, the fifth shogun. The temple stands on the edge of the plateau that runs from Yushima to Hongo, an area dotted with temples and shrines. Pause in front of the main gate on your walk and let your thoughts drift back to Edo of old.
