A Japanese garden just steps from Hongo-sanchome Station, in a corner of the University of Tokyo's Hongo Campus. The site was originally the main residence of the Maeda family, lords of the Kaga domain, and the garden was laid out together with the former Marquis Maeda residence. Designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty, it preserves a serene landscape of pond and trees amid the university's buildings.
