A temple in the area around Hongo-sanchome Station. Hongo is a place of tangled slopes and back lanes, where a temple gate appears without warning between rows of houses and shops. Step just one street off the busy Kasuga-dori and the noise grows distant, and the air within the precincts changes. It is a good place to stop and catch your breath partway through a walk around the University of Tokyo campus and the sloping streets nearby.
