A shrine in Senzoku, Taito Ward, a walk north from Iriya Station, sitting in a corner of what was once the Yoshiwara pleasure quarter. The site was originally occupied by a pond known as Benten Pond, where many people who had no way to escape lost their lives during the Great Kanto Earthquake. A Kannon statue erected to console their souls still stands quietly here, keeping the memory of the neighborhood alive. Pause here for a moment on your walk.
