Tokyo Station Walking Guide — Museums and Red Brick in Marunouchi

Five of the six are museums, and they are packed into a walkable stretch running from Marunouchi to Kyobashi. Tokyo Station Gallery

It opened in 1988 and was renovated to coincide with the 2012 restoration of the station building. The original brick walls were left in place as the walls of the exhibition rooms, so the building is as much a sight as the works on display. Starbucks Coffee TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE MARUNOUCHI

Seats surrounded by bookshelves make it a good place to sit down between walking and shopping. It connects to Tokyo Station by underground passage, so you can reach it without getting wet on a rainy day. Budget is around 750 yen.

Intermediatheque

[Intermediatheque](/en/spot/ed00c71b-bca7-4d6a-8c9a-c8d105087a04) is a public-contribution facility inside the JP Tower, run by the University of Tokyo Museum together with Japan Post. Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo

The building is a reconstruction of an office building designed by Josiah Conder in 1894, and it opened as a museum in 2010. It exhibits modern art centred on the late 19th century. The enclosed courtyard is a good place to sit down partway through a walk.

Seikado Museum

[Seikado Museum](/en/spot/3129e4ae-ab7d-4bc1-bd0a-55f313a1f699) presents the collection of East Asian antique art assembled by Iwasaki Yanosuke and his son Koyata. It holds the National Treasure "Yohen Tenmoku" tea bowl. In 2022 it moved from Setagaya to the Meiji Seimei Kan, and its address is 2-chome Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku. By this point you have covered the Marunouchi side of the walk.

Artizon Museum

[Artizon Museum](/en/spot/8e2587da-69ad-457d-b39c-e82bcf5316e5) opened in 2020 as the successor to the Bridgestone Museum of Art. It shows the Ishibashi Foundation collection, spanning Impressionism through to contemporary art. Its address is 1-chome Kyobashi, Chuo-ku, just beyond Marunouchi, which makes it a natural place to end the walk.
