An 8-minute walk from Chigasaki Station, in the plaza in front of Chigasaki City Hall. Yuzo Kayama, the "Wakadaisho" who grew up in Chigasaki, rode waves on a board he made himself from plywood and was a pioneer in spreading surf culture in Japan. The statue was installed in 2024, and what he holds is his trademark Mosrite guitar. The city also has a street named "Yuzo-dori."

The symbol of Chigasaki, formally named Ubajima. It is a group of rocks about 1.4 km off the Chigasaki shore, rising about 14.6 m high. It is also a mecca for rock fishing and can be reached by kayak or SUP, and several Southern All Stars songs mention "Eboshi Iwa" and "Eboshi Line" in their lyrics.
An artificial cape in Higashikaigan-minami known as the T-bar. It was built to prevent erosion of the sandy beach, and the water on either side of it is both a fine surf point and a fishing spot.
A three-room inn in Nakakaigan, founded in 1899. It is known as the inn where Yasujiro Ozu wrote screenplays. Worth passing by on the way back from the coast just to take in the look of the building.
A 16-minute walk from Chigasaki Station, in Nakakaigan. It is run by a husband-and-wife team who are also beach-seine fishers, so you can eat fish caught that same morning. Open Monday–Tuesday and Thursday–Sunday, 15:00–23:00, closed on Wednesdays and on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays.
A Japanese restaurant in Higashikaigan-kita, an 18-minute walk from the station. It centers on fish and charcoal grilling with seasonal dishes, and because the owner buys fish at Hiratsuka fishing port every morning, the menu changes each time. Open Monday–Tuesday and Thursday–Sunday, 17:00–24:00, closed on Wednesdays.
A noodle shop in the Branch Chigasaki 2 commercial complex in Hamamidaira, and a sister shop of Itadakimasu Shokudo in the same city. It is open 11:00–21:00 with no closing days, which makes it easy to slot in before or after heading to the coast.
One last tip: Shunraku Kukan Kairo and Wishbone are both closed on Wednesdays, and Brandin is closed Tuesday through Thursday. The coast and the statue keep no opening hours, so on days when several closures overlap, build the walk around the seaside.
