A statue of Yuzo Kayama, the “Young Guy” (Wakadaisho) who grew up in Chigasaki. He was also a pioneer who spread surf culture in Japan, riding waves on a board he made himself out of plywood. Beloved as a symbol of the town, the city even has a street named “Yuzo-dori.” The statue was installed in the plaza in front of City Hall in 2024. In his hands is his trademark Mosrite guitar.
