The tutelary shrine of Okusawa in Setagaya Ward, a short walk from Okusawa Station on the Tokyu Meguro Line. What catches the eye is the large snake woven from straw coiled around the torii gate. It derives from an event in which a giant straw serpent is carried through the neighborhood in a procession praying for protection from epidemics, and it is designated an Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Setagaya Ward. Worth pausing for on a walk through the residential streets.
