A Jodo-shu (Pure Land) temple spreading out right beside Kuhonbutsu Station, founded in 1678 (Enpo 6) by the priest Kaseki Shonin. It stands on the former site of the medieval Okusawa Castle, and nine statues of Amida Nyorai are enshrined in three halls that face one another. The station name and place name Kuhonbutsu also derive from these statues. Pass through the tree-lined approach and take your time walking the quiet grounds.
